Accidents on set are rare – but they do happen

As of 2021, around 350 deaths had been caused by accidents sustained on film and TV sets, The Guardian reports.
The most recent high profile incident was the tragic death of Cinematographer Halyna Hutchins who was accidentally ‘shot’ on the set of Rust, when a gun Alec Baldwin was holding discharged. The weapon was not supposed to be loaded with live ammo, however a bullet fired.
Director Joel Souza was also injured by the gun.
At the end of January, Baldwin pleaded not guilty to a refiled count of involuntary manslaughter.
The upcoming trial date for over the fatal 2021 shooting is scheduled to take place on Aug 6 later this year.
